What Does Your Favorite Classic Monster Say About You?

You see them lurking in the shadows. You hear their howls on the wind. You feel them brush past, prickling awareness on your skin. As vegetation begins to rot and a chill invades the air, they sneak back into our collective consciousness en masse, awaiting their rightful place as the kings and queens of Halloween. Monsters. If there’s one thing we can learn from their stories, it’s that it’s always better to leave well enough alone. And yet, each fall, we welcome them again and again with open arms, faux fur, and gaudy plastic fangs.

But this Halloween, the tables are turned. What does your favorite classic horror monster say about YOU?

Dracula

You know what you’re about, and what you’re about is exhibiting the epitome of uncompromising class. With a debonaire air and a certain panache, you are timeless, a true classic. You tend to keep to yourself, as the mediocrity of mere mortals drives you simply batty. You count your few friends as more precious than life itself, but for the most part, others are just a means to an end. You’re ready to take a bite out of life, and nothing but a stake to the heart is going to stop you.

The Wolf Man

Part wild child, part respectable human being, you don’t like to share your whole self with the world. You have a lot of pent up feelings, and you’d like to keep them there. Some things are just better kept between yourself and God…and a few unlucky townsfolk. You’re a product of your circumstances, a victim to the whims of fate, but you don’t let that stop you from trying to do right by other people. Pure of heart, but not always of deed, life is a constant struggle against your baser nature. But before your next rampage, remember: the full moon will always pass and you’ll live to howl another day.

Frankenstein’s Monster

You have a storm in your soul, though every piece of you longs just for the simple things in life. Some might call you abnormal, might mistake your intentions, but you know deep down that our differences are what make us stronger. You don’t speak up often, but when you do, it’s straight fire. You’ll face the angry mobs with head held high. You are a study in contradictions: strong, yet vulnerable; barely holding it together, yet an inspiration to others. Motivated in turn by fear and passion, you prefer to be beholden to nothing and no one but yourself. You are unflinchingly, unapologetically alive…and nobody can take that away from you.

The Mummy

Pity the fool who dares cross you. You know what you want and you know how to get it. Perseverance is your middle name, though others might refer to it more as sheer pig-headed stubbornness or even perhaps hey man, that’s a really bad idea. That’s fine. They’re not your problem, anyway. Dust off that old zest for life, because you’ve got work to do. For better or worse, you tend to not let things go easily, and you often get so wrapped up in your own schemes that death itself may pass you by. It’s both your blessing and your curse, and if you’re not careful, it’s sure to spell your doom. Some things just might not be worth it.

The Invisible Man

Your mind is a wonderful, terrible place. You’re always wondering what if, always experimenting with ways that life could be better. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but you don’t have time for regret. You might make a mess of it all, but hey, life is messy, right? You never worry that people can see right through you, because you’re often gone before they can even notice you’re there. You’re always on the move, always meddling here and there, leaving nothing but footprints and the vague impression of your presence. You take pride in being unpredictable. When opportunity comes knocking, you would dare disturb the universe, consequences be damned. Your mind is not derailed—everyone else just can’t keep up.

The Phantom of the Opera

You have an undeniable flair for the dramatic and it serves you well. You fully believe that you are the center of the universe and that everyone else should just deal with it. Angst and passion fuel your life, sensation and spectacle thrill and delight you. All the world’s a stage—your stage. After all, what’s life without a little drama? You prefer, though, to be the mastermind behind it all. Let others have the spotlight, you’ll just be here controlling it. You’ve got so many feelings and have literally no idea what to do with them all. So you don your mask, hide your true self, and let no one get too close. You know your worth, your accomplishments, and that’s enough. You really did start the fire, and honestly you’re pretty proud of that fact.

The Creature from the Black Lagoon

All you want from life is to love and be loved in return. You don’t like to leave your comfort zone, and when adventure comes to you, you’re not always sure what to do with it. You’re constantly curious, but pretty laid back. Everything about life interests you, especially other people, but you’ll happily stick to your little corner of the lagoon. You tend to feel as though you understand most everyone else, even though you often feel misunderstood yourself. You’ve always been good at bridging gaps. Sometimes your impatience bubbles up to the surface, but you try not to let it get the best of you. Success rates are so-so. Even though you enjoy companionship, you only want it on your own terms. Everyone else can just leave you alone already, thanks.

The Bride of Frankenstein

When you enter a room, everyone knows it. You’re always on trend, always on point, always the center of attention. You’re unapologetically true to yourself and utterly unafraid to show it. You know your own mind, and it’s obviously the best place to be. Who cares how you got here? You’re here now and that’s all that matters. With a little style and a lot of attitude, you’re clearly the best of the lot. Honestly. Frankenstein who?
